Summer where art thou?

December 21, 2010

Today is the 21st of December. Today is the shortest day of the year. Isn’t it odd that today is technically the first day of winter? We’ve seen snow in November, and have had our fair share of blustery days in October but today is the FIRST day of WINTER. That’s mind blowing! It’s all smooth sailing from here. After today the days will be getting longer and the sun will be making more appearances (thank God!)
I hate the cold weather. I like snow on Christmas day because it’s romantic, clean and cliche but it can stay away all other days. The cold, dark days leave me feeling tired, depressed and constantly hungry. I long for summer when you go out with friends at 10pm and it’s still light out. Where instead of counting snowflakes you count new freckles on your face, and how many flip flops you can get for $10.00 at Old Navy. I miss gelato on the board walk, tank tops and sunglasses. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to save and go somewhere in the summer. I’m THIS close to just paying for Dave’s passport so he can have it so we have the option of just going across the line.
